Frequently asked questions

Who should not be clipped but only brushed?

Dogs with a characteristic undercoat, such as Huskies, Spitz breeds, Laikas, and similar breeds, should not be clipped. After clipping, these pets are at significant risk of developing X-Alopecia, which can manifest as either full shedding of the coat or partial hair loss in clumps. This does not affect the overall health of the animal but may not look very aesthetically pleasing.

How often can grooming be done?

The frequency of grooming depends on the type of fur and needs of your pet. Typically, it is recommended to groom long-haired cats and dogs every 4-8 weeks, depending on how quickly the coat grows and how often it needs maintenance. For short-haired breeds, grooming can be done every 8-12 weeks. It's important to monitor the condition of fur and groom it as needed.

Is it possible to remove odor from an animal's fur?

Yes, there are several ways to remove odor from an animal's coat:

  • Regular Bathing and Grooming: Regular baths and brushing help remove accumulated dirt and odor from the fur.
  • Use of Special Shampoos and Conditioners: Choose PURAMUR shampoos and conditioners specifically designed for animals to help eliminate odor and make the fur more pleasant to touch.
  • Use of Pet Deodorants: There are special pet deodorants available that can help eliminate unpleasant odors and provide freshness to the fur.
  • Regular Replacement of Bedding and Linens: Frequent replacement of your pet's bedding and linens also helps eliminate odors that may accumulate on them.

It's important to remember that fur care and the overall health of the animal play a crucial role in preventing odors. If odors become excessive or there are signs of any health issues in the animal, consult a veterinarian.

At what age is it best to start grooming your pet?

It's best to start grooming your pet from a young age, when they are still puppies or kittens. Grooming process, especially if it's a standard care procedure for certain breeds, can become familiar and normal for them if they get used to it from early on.

Gradually introduce your little pet to the grooming process, allowing them to become accustomed to different tools, sounds, and touches. Short grooming sessions with small breaks will help reduce stress for your furry friend.

If you have an adult pet that has never been groomed before, it's important to approach the first grooming session gradually and with caution. Grooming can be a new and intimidating experience for older animals, so it's essential to give them enough time to get used to the process and remain calm during grooming.

If you lack experience in grooming pets, it's best to seek the assistance of a professional grooming specialist who can ensure a safe and effective grooming session for your beloved pet.

Why is it better to dilute any shampoo with water before applying it to a dog's coat during a bath?

Concentrated detergents applied directly to coat can lead to dandruff in your pet. Additionally, diluting the liquid with water ensures more even distribution over skin, making it much easier to rinse out of the coat. This also results in significantly reduced shampoo usage, which is an additional advantage.
